Broccoli compliments this tender shell-shaped pasta when seasonings,(included in package) and olive oil are added. A sure favorite as an entrée or appetizer.
Throughout the years, we have remained loyal to our original recipes, using only the best, most natural ingredients. In an age of chemical preservatives and artificial flavoring subsititutes, this is something we find most important to maintain.
1. Do not defrost. If any cavatelli are frozen together in the bag, firmly hit against a hard surface to seperate.
2. Open bag of cavatelli with broccoli, remove spice pouch, and set aside.
3. In a large stockpot, place cavatelli with broccoli in 8 quarts of rapidly boiling water.
4. Cook the cavatelli with broccoli for 5 minutes, stirring frequently. DO NOT WAIT FOR SECOND BOIL TO BEGIN COOKING TIME.
5. Before draining the cavatelli with broccoli, retain 16 oz. (2 cups) of the hot cooking water and set aside.*
6. Drain the cavatelli with broccoli (do not rinse).
7. Place the 16 oz. of hot cooking water in the stockpot, 2 oz. (1/4 cup) of olive oil (or vegetable oil), and the contents of the spice pouch.
8. Place drained cavatelli with broccoli back into the stockpot with the water, oil, and spice mixture.
9. Thoroughly mix all contents (cavatelli, broccoli, and spice mixture).
10. After mixing, use a slotted ladel spoon and place on serving dish. (If desired, retain remaining spice mixture for enhanced moisture).
11. Serve hot or refrigerate and serve as a cold salad.
* You may substitute 2 cups of hot chicken broth instead of water.
